Canteen Staff / Food Service Assistant

We are looking for a reliable and hardworking individual to join our school canteen team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working with people, takes pride in cleanliness, and is committed to providing a positive experience for students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Serve food and beverages to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner
• Operate the cash register, handle payments accurately, and issue receipts
• Receive and check incoming deliveries, ensuring correct quantities and quality
• Monitor and manage stock levels, reporting low supplies as needed
• Set up and maintain attractive, organized food displays
• Provide excellent customer service, responding to requests with a helpful attitude
• Maintain a clean and tidy canteen at all times, including food prep areas, counters, and dining spaces
• Take personal responsibility for assigned tasks and duties throughout the shift

Requirements

• Strictly follow food hygiene and safety regulations at all times
• Hold or be willing to obtain a food handler’s certificate
• Punctual, dependable, and accountable in all aspects of the role
• Able to work well as part of a team in a busy environment
• Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and transactions
• Previous experience in food service, catering, or retail is an advantage but not required

Working Hours Typically aligned with school operating hours, Monday to Friday.
