ROLE PURPOSE

The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall presentation of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces at KAY Hospitality properties, ensuring a consistently high standard of guest comfort and satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean, tidy, and service guest rooms daily (occupied, departure, and vacant-ready) as per standard operating procedures and brand cleanliness standards.
  • Make beds, change linen, and replenish guest amenities and supplies according to par stock levels.
  • Clean and maintain bathrooms, fixtures, and fittings, always ensuring proper sanitation and hygiene standards.
  • Vacuum, mop, dust, and polish surfaces, furniture, and fixtures across rooms and public areas.
  • Report any maintenance issues, damages, or missing items in guest rooms to the Housekeeping Supervisor promptly.
  • Handle guest requests (extra towels, amenities, etc.) promptly and courteously.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of housekeeping trolleys, storerooms, and linen rooms.
  • Follow lost-and-found procedures for any guest items found in rooms or public areas.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene protocols, including correct use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
  • Support laundry, public area, or turndown service duties as assigned during peak periods.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience as a Housekeeping Attendant/Room Attendant in a hotel, serviced apartment, or hospitality environment preferred.
  • Basic understanding of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and hygiene standards.
  • High school education or equivalent.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • Attention to detail and consistency in maintaining cleanliness standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently within time standards for room servicing.
  • Good physical stamina to manage standing, bending, and lifting throughout shifts.
  • Basic spoken English for guest interaction; additional languages an advantage.
  • Trustworthy and discreet when working in guest rooms and handling guest belongings.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and follow supervisor instructions.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Role involves standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Shift-based role, which may include weekends, public holidays, and rotational shifts.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals; PPE and safety training will be provided.
