Workshop In Charge

Job Purpose:

The Workshop In-Charge will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the driving schoolโ€™s vehicle workshop. This role ensures proper maintenance, servicing, and repair of all training vehicles, while managing workshop staff and resources effectively to guarantee safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate all activities of the workshop, including vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repairs.
  • Ensure all training vehicles are roadworthy, safe, and meet regulatory standards.
  • Plan and schedule preventive maintenance and inspections to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing, and spare parts inventory.
  • Manage workshop staff (mechanics, technicians, helpers), including task allocation and performance monitoring.
  • Coordinate with the driving schoolโ€™s operations team to ensure vehicle availability for training sessions.
  • Prepare workshop reports and update management on vehicle status, costs, and workshop activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in the workshop.
  • Manage procurement of spare parts, tools, and consumables within the approved budget.
  • Train and guide workshop staff to maintain high quality standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Mechanical/Automobile Engineering or relevant field.
  • Minimum 3โ€“5 years of experience in managing an automotive workshop (driving school/fleet management preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Experience in supervising and motivating workshop teams.
  • Good organizational and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with workshop safety standards and regulatory compliance.
